Drug Manufacturing Unit Hidden in A Civil House at Fong-Shan District Were busted, Along With Amphetamine, 10 Millions Worthy Semi-finished Products and Devices were seized. Two of the suspects were detained and held incommunicado.

Taiwan Kaohsiung District Prosecutor’s Office (KDPO) were informed that members of a group allegedly operated a drug manufacturing unit in a civil house at Fong-Shan District, Kaohsiung City. Director prosecutor Jun-Jie Lin and prosecutor Gong-Hao Chien were assigned to lead the case then soon commanded the Criminal Investigation Crops of Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County to search the unit with a warrant at 2 a.m., July 13th, 2022 after days of continuous investigation. 9.5 kilograms of amphetamine, which was worth nearly 10 millions, and 18.5 kilograms of its semi-finished product as well as a bunch of manufacturing devices were seized, with two of the suspects surnamed Wu and Chen arrested at the scene and brought in for questioning. Prosecutor Gong-Hao Chien filed for detention and held incommunicado against both suspects after interrogation, which were both granted by the court at the same day, as they were deemed to substantially violated the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act with the cause and necessity of detention. Another co-conspirator surnamed Huang was also arrested with a warrant at July 18th as the investigation continued. His 100-thousand-dollar-bail and a house arrest were ordered by the court as a detention order was filed against.

As preliminary investigation indicated, the suspects conspired to manufacture amphetamine with a division of labor as Chen rented a civil house in Fong-Shan District, Kaohsiung City at June 15th, 2022 as the unit, then both Wu and Huang purchased the materials needed for manufacturing amphetamine like bottled hydrogen etc. Chen also stood guard the whole process from exposure while Wu manufactured amphetamine in the unit. The KDPO will keep demonstrating its determination to maintain a narcotics-free society by tracking down drugs from both its source and circulation according to relevant guideline issued by the Executive Yuan.
