Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Hold Emergency Response Meeting to initiate Contingency Plan on COVID-19 Epidemic and Simulate Online Meeting

Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Hold Emergency Response Meeting to initiate Contingency Plan on COVID-19 Epidemic and Simulate Online Meeting

 

In response to coming challenge against the COVID-19 epidemic(Wuhan Pneumonia), and maintaining the normal operation of the office, the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office organized the `` Emergency Response Team '' on February 26, 2020 to take the core business and epidemic prevention of various departments to do advanced planning on manpower and office space contingency plans. The "Special Group" meeting was held at 10:30 am on March 13, 2020, in the well-ventilated auditorium on the 6th floor and all participants discussed and confirmed the relevant issues revealed after the inventory and the feasibility of various response. All the colleagues at the meeting were wearing masks, and the seat was set 1 person per table. The distance among tables was at least 1 meter to minimize the risk of droplet infection and ensure the health of the colleagues.

 

 

The Chief Prosecutor Zhuang Rong-song 莊榮松appointed the Deputy Chief Prosecutor 曾靖雅as the convener of the “Emergency Response Team", and assigned the head prosecutor of people livelihood task force,朱婉綺, as the contact point for epidemic-related cases. Meanwhile 16 heads of administrative departments jointly participated in the team, discussed and planned for the use of manpower at different stages of the epidemic development, off-site or district office, home office and other matters, so as to ensure that the manpower can be maintained at 2/3 of the existing organs during the epidemic prevention. The plan is to safeguard the normal operation of official business and protect the rights and interests of the people. At the meeting, two conclusions are made. First, in order to reduce the risk of infection, con-call is also alternative in the following months. Besides, future meetings might be held either on-site or video conference. The approach is determined by the chairman of meeting based on the purpose of it. All participants conducted software tests and simulated online meetings via video at the end of the conference.

 

 

In order to ensure the health of colleagues and the public, and to reduce the risk of group infections, Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office has strengthened regulation of access to the building since February 28, 2020. All personnel entering the building are required to wear masks and being measured body temperature;   defendants and criminals who have a history of residential tourism, contact history, and fever or acute respiratory symptoms in the epidemic area, whether summoned or arrested by the police and thereafter sent to the prosecutor, are required to walk through an independent entrance and exit line. Establishing an anti-epidemic investigation court and remote video "court" system is also needed to guarantee that cases could be handled smoothly with a low risk of infection.
