Prosecutor, coast guard, customs and police jointly investigated the case of smuggling drug by transfering container and seized 136 kg cocaine.

Kaohsiung  District Prosecutors Office received intelligence from the coast guard that a transnational drug trafficking gang was plotting to smuggle a large number of drugs to Taiwan. Lin Junjie, the head prosecutor of the anti-drug smugging task force, appointed prosecutor Zhao Jizheng to supervise Coast Guard Administration Investigation Branch in Tainan,Taipei and Kaohsiung , Kaohsiung Customs ,Criminal Investigation Bureau International Criminal Affairs Divisions and Kaohsiung Harbor Police Department to follow up this case.

After Prosecutor Zhao  and the special investigating team investigated this intelligence for a period of time, one suspicious container transferred from Central and South America was aimed.In the morning of November 3, 2019, the special investigating team opened the container for inspection in the re-export container area at ​​Kaohsiung Harbor, and seized 122 packages of drug, gross weight was 136.435 kg. The drug was identified preliminary as cocaine,the first tier listed drug in Drug Control Act.

Prosecutor Zhao considered that the drug  was hidden in the transferred container, and the consignee was in other country. Therefore he gave local law enforcement agents to contact the law enforcement agency in related jurisdiciton. Currently, the suspect has been identified and the investigation is still ongoing.
