Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Held a Kaohsiung Regional Food Security and Environment Protection Symposium
In order to enhance the investigating capability of prosecutorial authorities and increase the understanding on the first-line practice, KPO held a Kaohsiung regional symposium with Kaohsiung Health Bureau(KHB) and Kaohsiung Environmental Protection Bureau(KEPB) on December 7th 2018. The Chief Prosecutor Chou Chung-Chin（周章欽） led the prosecutors of the Department to the symposium, and the President Judge of Kaohsiung District Court Chen Chung-Ho（陳中和）, the Chief Prosecutor of Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office Chang Wen-Cheng（張文政）, the Chief Executive Judge of Qiaotou District Court Huang Tsung-Yang（黃宗揚） were invited to attend the symposium. A total of 36 people, including the prosecutors, the judges and the intern law officers, were involved.
This symposium was organized by the head prosecutor of Environmental protection and Corporate Crime, Lee Wan-Ling and the head prosecutor of people livelihood, Chu Wan-Chi. In the beginning of the symposium, the general manager of Uni-President superior commissary corp Chen Kai-Jung and the factory director Hsu Chi-Nan introduced their company, then led the participants to visit the production line. So that the prosecutors and judges have an in-depth understanding of the production and the management methods of the factory and also for the food security law. Then, KEPB arranged a on-site inspection tour to an illegal waste disposal landfill in Niaosong District. In the site, KEPB officer explained the reality and difficulties in investigating illegally dispose waste. In the end, the discussion was held in KEPB’s meeting room and moderated by the bureau chief of KEPB Tsai Meng-Yu（蔡孟裕）. The bureau chief of KEPB Tsai and the food hygiene section chief of KHB Chen Chien-Jung made presentation respectively of “ how to reuse slag(爐石)” and “ how to manage of food security”.
The participates exchanged the legal issues happened in the administration inspection, investigation or in trial. Each of them learned a lots in the symposium and hope to devote themselves for better food security and the life environment of Kaohsiung region citizens.
