80 kilograms of ketamine seized - Drug trafficking bust nets 80kg China ketamine - Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office collaborate with Taichung District Prosecutors Office command the Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Justice and Criminal Investigation Bureau once they were tipped off several months ago that drug traffickers are attempting to smuggle the drug from China into Taiwan to meet increased demand during the Christmas period. On Dec. 21st, 2016, Coast Guard administration vessel located a Tunggang-registered fishing vessel, in waters off Xiaoliuqiu. Prosecutor Zheng I-Xiong (鄭益雄) is on board and search the fishing boat with the search warrant. The ship was detained to Kaohsiung Harbor. On boarding the ship agents found nearly 3 packages total of 80 kilograms of ketamine hidden in the cabin. The captain of the ship, surnamed Huang, was arrested and, where he and an alleged accomplice, surnamed Chen, were questioned by investigators. Having picked up the illicit cargo on the open sea, the plan was to transport the drugs from China to Kaohsiung. This is the biggest drug trafficking bust this year and the first case the fishing vessel is seized after the amending of forfeit of The Code of Criminal Procedure promulgated.
