Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office joined with the Police took down Scan Gang In this September Kaoshiung District Prosecuotrs Office received an intelligence about a scam gang, which defrauded the victims of money through online dating. A special task force was shortly set up by chief Prosecutor Su and Prosecutor Chen, with members of 8th Investigation Corp of CIB, Criminal Investigation Corp of Kaohsiung City Police Department. On 25th October the task force searched a control room in Yongkang District in Tainan, and detained laptops, IP sharer, cell phones, scan guidelines, memory cards, debit cards and credit cards. The task force also arrested 10 suspects from age 18 to 30. After questioning the suspects and viewing all the evidence, Prosecutor Chen hold that Tsai(age 26), Wang (age 21) and Tan(age 23) were highly suspected of having committed fraud and appealed these three suspects in custody. Tsai, Wang and Tan are now detained without the right of meeting with visitors, given the sufficient facts that he might abscond and conspire with other co-offender or witness. 5 of the suspects are granted bail on 20 thousand NTD. Tsai, Wang and Tan rented a house in Yongkang, Tainan, to set up a control room and recruited other suspects as handymen. The handymen searched the potential female victims in chinese dating Sites and cheated their trust by good-looking photos and sweet words. Then the handymen lured the victims to get a membership of certain online games, and to download a Trojan horse in disguise of banking software. As the victims entered their bank accounts and passwords under the instruction of Trojan horse, the scan gang simultaneously got these information and remitted the money in those accounts to phony accounts used by the gang without further ado. So far the gang has profited at least 800 thousand RMB. The actual numbers of victims and the amounts unlawful profit and accomplices remain to be cleared.
