Kaohsiung District Prosecutors’ Office, along with Criminal Investigation Bureau hunt down kidnap gang: three kidnap gang members arrested and detained Last year, Kaohsiung District Prosecutors’ Office got information on some crime gang members involving kidnapping a British businessman, who is the dealer of supercar “PAGANI” in Taiwan for ransom. The chief prosecutor Chou Chung-Chin(周章欽) immediately appointed prosecutors LI YI-ZENG(李怡增)along with Criminal Investigation Bureau as a task team to look into it. In order to make sure the safety of the victim and avoid arousing suspicions, the process of this investigation was very cautious. The task team arrested 3 suspects on April 24 following an executing search warrant on 4 different places in Kaohsiung. After examinations, prosecutor Li apply detention on April 25 for there are facts sufficient to justify an apprehension that the 3 accused may abscond and conspire with a co-offender or witness. With prosecutor Li’s present in court and stating the above reasons for applying detention order, the court executed detention of the accused and prohibited the meeting, sending and receiving. Meanwhile, prosecutor Li along with the team would continue investigating to dig out other co-offenders and to find out if there are other victims.
