The Statement of the Investigation on the Case of the Fuzhou Rice Company
As for the case of Fuzhou rice company, the Office, after having received relevant information last week, immediately assigned the Su, Tsung-Jung, the head prosecutor and prosecutor Cheng Po-Jen, members of the special section of combating crime against livelihood, to lead a special group which consists of The Seventh Police Corps (The Third Division), The Kaohsiung Department of Health, and The Southern Administration Center of FDA to investigate thoroughly.
The Prosecutor Cheng Po-Jen went to the Fuzhou rice company in Daliao District, Kaousiung, at 9:00 yesterday morning together with the staffs from The Seventh Police Corps (The Third Division), The Kaohsiung Department of Health, and The Southern Administration Center of FDA. The executive test was conducted by the staffs from the health department on the spot and food additive packages labeled VN-101、VN-103,both in the form of powder, were found. The company said that the additives were used as antibacterial, but no food additive VN-151 were found there.
It is certain that VN-101, VN-103 are legal food additive which are listed on the website of FDA. The prosecutors Cheng Po-Jen has requested the staffs from the health department on the scene to collect the rice added VN-101, VN-103 for further tests to clarify whether the ingredient of the rice are illegal.
The prosecutors have demanded The Kaohsiung Department of Health and The Southern Administration Center of FDA to finish the tests as soon as possible, and make it clear if the company had any illegal conducts. The office will keep attention on the results of the tests to see if criminal law is violated in the case.
