Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Cooperates With Kaohsiung Medical University

Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Cooperates With Kaohsiung Medical University Head Prosecutor of Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office, Zhou Zhang Qin, and President of Kaohsiung Medical University, Lai Wen De announced jointly that the medical training program for prosecutors and interns of prosecutors and judges will commence in June, 2015. It is the first time that prosecutors will accompany medical doctors to practice in various medical clinic including diagnose, treatment and surgery. The program will last for two weeks and help prosecutors to enhance their medical professional knowledge and will be ended up with seminar participating by prosecutors and physicians from different subjects, discussing medical malpractice cases. The program aims at promoting professional medical knowledge for prosecutors to deal with medical malpractice cases in the future. Head Prosecutor Zhou appreciated that Kaohsiung Medical University provides such a precious opportunity for prosecutors at the commencement of the training program. He also mentioned that he had been practicing law for more than 20 years and he realized only with basic forensic knowledge could prosecutors investigate cases successfully. When he served as director general of Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ministry of Justice, he asked forensic doctors to visit the crime scene and work with prosecutors, examine the evidence at the spot to have a complete and thorough review of the murder, which will make their forensic reports convincible. Lastly he encouraged all the prosecutors to grab this chance to improve their knowledge which may be beneficial for them to be good prosecutors. To broaden the knowledge field for interns of prosecutors and judges, coordinated by director prosecutor Yang Biying and Dr. Yu, vice president of Kaohsiung Medical School, the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors office arrange this training program for trial and reached a fruitful outcome last year. After several discussions and adjustments, they decided to point selected prosecutors and some interns of prosecutors and judges to join the training program and discuss with physicians on malpractice cases to help each other to realize medical and prosecutorial opinions and perspectives.
