KDPO Against Organized Gang and Drug Crimes on Campus In order to prevent juvenile delinquency and drug crime from spreading in high schools, Chief Prosecutor Tsai of Kaohsiung Prosecutors Office (“KDPO” hereafter) has instructed the Director Prosecutor in charge of Combating Drug Trafficking, Ching Ruei Young(楊慶瑞), to organize the police, investigators, and officials of educational departments to crack them down collectively. Some drug dealers, gangsters also, have been reported earlier to offer drugs to students and thereby solicit their participation in the very gang in District Gangshan, District Alian, and District Yanchao. This case was therefore under an investigation conducted by KDPO Prosecutor Wu Shieh Tsan (吳協展). On February 6th and 7th, Prosecutor Wu led the police from Kaohsiung City Police Department to carry out a large-scale search for this case in the above districts. After this successful task, 3.07 grams of Ketamine and illicit gains of NTD$ 38,000 were therefore seized. Meanwhile, the main suspect and other two teenaged suspects were arrested during the action and then respectively sent to KDPO and Kaohsiung Juvenile and Family Court for further questioning. It was found they had transacted drugs from prime drug suppliers and then had benefited from reselling drugs to students, out of their employment and lack of money. Their flagrant business was absolutely threatening the safety on campus. The rapid spread of drugs was definitely harmful to students’ physical and mental health as well. In the aftermath of the aforementioned action, the Education Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government and the schools involved in this case have been noticed to tutor and deal with those students properly. KDPO will keep vigilant as to demonstrate the determination of combating drug crimes.
