Prosecutor Probes Police’s Suspected Embezzlement It was alleged that Mr. Tian, a policeman of Kaohsiung City Police Department, Siaogang Precinct, harbored illegal foreign worker agencies while operating a foreign worker agency of his own and embezzled thousands of dollars from foreign labors’ wages. Prosecutor Zhan Mei-ling(詹美鈴)therefore initiated the investigation of the aforementioned felonies. The alleged misconducts included that Mr. Tian should have reported to Council of Labor Affairs when finding illegal foreign worker agencies in his precinct, whereas asking those agencies to provide list of illegal foreign workers for arrest. Besides, being a law enforcement agent, he run foreign fishermen agency in the meantime against the ethics rules and appropriated wages of foreign fisherman thereafter. On October 26th, 2012, Prosecutor Zhan directed investigators to implement court’s search warrants to search Mr. Tian’s residence and office, and seized related evidence of his above misconducts. After being interrogated, he was bailed for 100,000 N.T. Prosecutor Zhan will continually probe the case and prevent human trafficking in our community.
