Crack Down Counterfeit Operation Approximately 200,000 NT fake notes cashed in Taiwan. KPO and Police keep on following the fake money trail. KPO’s Prosecutor Cheng Yi-hsiung (鄭益雄)was reported that there were lots fake $2000 around Taiwan and have been seriously damaged the safety of commercial market. The prosecutor Cheng immediately formed a joint task force, consisting of members from the Kaohsiung branch of Investigation Bureau and Gangshan Precinct of Kaohsiung City Police Department into investigation. After rigorously collecting the evidence, the joint task force found out the drug dealer Ms. Chen seems to be cheated into buying impure Methamphetamine mixed with crystal sugar by other drug dealer and lost more than NT$100,000. In her anger, Ms. Chen decided to be in league with Mr. Chen to counterfeit fake $2000 notes. They planned to pay the drug dealer with fake $2000 to gain her loss back. Mr. Chen learned how to counterfeit money with copy machine, paper, pen and other stationery on the internet. He gave these completed fake notes to Ms. Chen to buy drugs. When he was short of money, he made small amount of fake notes to pay at the SPA stores or the restaurants. According to the joint task force’s estimation, the total amount of the fake $2000 cashed in market was more than NT$200,000. Prosecutor Cheng led police to search Ms.Chen’s residences on June 26th 2012. Fake NT$2000, 12 grams Methamphetamine and drug sniff bottles were seized. Mr. Chen and Ms. Chen were both arrested on the spot. After questioning the defendants, the prosecutor has applied for court approval, which was granted later, to hold Ms. Chen in custody for further investigations and preventing her from destroying evidence, while Mr. Chen was sent to rehabilitation for his own drug case. Prosecutor Cheng will lead the joint task force to keep on following the fake notes.
