KDPO’s Crackdown against Organized Gang on Campus KDPO has cracked down the gang violence, which was reported to KDPO earlier, on campus in Kaohsiung City this April. This organized gang was conducted by Lee-* (hereinafter called “gang leader” or “main suspect” ), and its “headquarter” was set in a house of residential area in Sanmin District. Since 2010, teenagers who behave differently have ganged up on schoolchildren on campus. These gang members threatened new, inexperienced pupils coming from wealthy families to submit their personal belongings to the gang or to help the members to gain illegal benefits. When the students did not succumb to such intimidation, the gang members would exercise physical violence with truncheons on them. Moreover, the gang leader Lee has tried to force the victims to make false statements in order to save him from prosecution. As long as the victims were not willing to follow his instruction or meet his demands, the gang members would beat the victims as revenge. Additionally, they even shot a video for the process of torture to guarantee the gang leader Lee that they did assault the victims. Furthermore, the members of this organized gang not only abuse young people but also ruin innocent others’ property. One of the members fired an airsoft gun towards cars on the road just for fun but consequently caused a traffic chaos, putting the public in great danger. However, at that time, most victims did not dare to reveal the crimes. After the deviant behaviours mentioned above were reported, Head Prosecutor HE,JING-DONG(何景東)and Prosecutor YE,RONG-FANG(葉容芳) then commanded a joint team to launch an investigation into this gang crime. As a result, the airsoft guns, bats and batons possessed by the gang were therefore seized, the main suspect Lee has been detained by court now, and the juvenile delinquents were transferred to Kaohsiung Juvenile Court. This case, which so far is involved in organized crimes, will be kept traced and supervised well by KDPO.
