Kaohsiung District Prosecutors continued to crack down on illegal gambling with the police, One defendant detained and 16 defendants released on bail.

Taiwan Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office recently received information that there was a suspected amusement arcade which operated illegal gambling . Taiwan Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office immediately assigned the chief prosecutor Lin Zhi-you and prosecutor Xu Yi-ping to command the discipline team of Police Inspectorate Office, Gushan Branch , Sanmin First Branch and other units of  the Kaohsiung City Police Department to form a special team to investigate this case. On July 10, 2024, the police conducted the search of  "Ji〇 Amusement Arcade " in Gushan District with a warrant , and seized 65 gambling machines, more than 2.19 million, revenue statements, lottery tickets and other items at the location. Twelve defendants were arrested and 98 gamblers were brought back to be interrogated.  The interrogation was conducted by prosecutors Xu Yi-ping,Gan Ruo-ping, Wu Shao-qin, Wang Jian-zhong, Luo Si-han, and Wu Ling-jia. The person in charge whose family name is Zhao (male, born on 1982) and the store manager whose family is Yan (female, born on 1981) are both involved in the violation of Article 268 of the Criminal Law about providinga place or assembly to gamble to make a profit , and general money laundering in violation of Article 14 of the Money Laundering Control Act, etc. The suspected crime was serious, and there were necessary reasons to detain these two defendants. The prosecutors then applied to the court for a detention . The judge ruled that the defendant named Zhao was to be held in detention and incommunicado. The defendant named Yan was released on a bail of NT$150,000. The prosecutors interrogated the remaining 10 defendants ,nine of them were ordered to bail from NT$20,000 to NT$100,000, and one was released

 Subsequently, Chief Prosecutor Lin Zhi-you, Prosecutors Xu Yi-ping and Gan Ruo-ping commanded this special team of of  the Kaohsiung City Police Department to conduct a search at the "Zhan〇 Amusement Arcade " in Sanmin District with a warrant on July 14, 2024, and seized 124 gambling machines and about 1.49 million in cash, 145 machine boards, coupons, scoreboards and other items, and arrested 7 defendants and brought back 19 gamblers. After interrogation by prosecutors Xu Yi-ping, Gan Ruo-ping, Wang Jian-zhong, Jian Wan-ru, and Lu Shan-gen, 6 of them were ordered by prosecutors to bail from NT$50,000 to NT$300,000 and 1 person was released.

In order to actively curb the unhealthy trend of gambling and prevent people from being addicted to gambling and video games leading to the loss of wealth and the breakdown of families which may endanger social security. Taiwan Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office upheld a strict law enforcement stance. They vigorously investigated, and seized two large amusement arcades after receiving the criminal location information. Hereby we appeals to the public to report any illegal activities if they discover illegal gambling so we can maintain social security together .
