Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Probe Former Legislator Violating National Security Act

Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Anti-Corruption Unit director prosecutor Song, prosecutor Gan and prosecutor Hsu commanded the Kaohsiung City Field Division of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau to investigate contraventions of the National Security Act. On January 4th morning, 2022, a raid was performed on 5 premises and summoned alleged 5 suspects including Lo Chih-ming, Hsia Fu-hsiang and several witnesses as well. After questioning by the prosecutors, it is recognized that both Lo and Hsia are involved in the violation of Article 2-1 and Article 5-1 of the National Security Act, and there are reasons and necessity for detention.

The prosecutors applied courts to detain the suspects without communication, but the court set bail for Lo and Hsia at NT$200,000 and NT$150,000 respectively.

The prosecutors appealed the court’s decision to the Kaohsiung Branch of the Taiwan High Court, and thereafter the high court revoking the original decision.The detaintion application was sent back, and the Kaohsiung District Court made a further desicion that Hsia and Lo are allowed to be detained.

Lo was a former lawmaker, and Hsia was a retired major general of the navy.

After the absorption of the China Communist Party forces, Lo and Hsia took advantage of thier contacts as a lawmaker and retired general.

From 2003 to 2009, they introduced retired military officers of specific classes and services of our national army to China to recieve recruitment and provide opportunities for the united front organization of China to contact, win over and even absorb our retired military officers to develop organizations.
