Taiwan Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office Investigated a Case of Election Bribery with Gifts for neighborhood representative

Chief Prosecutor Lu Jianxing and Prosecutor Li Cilong commanded the Kaohsiung City Field Division of the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice and the Sanmin 2nd Branch of the Kaohsiung City Police Department to investigate the voting bribery case of the candidate for the neighborhood representative. On November 16, 2022, the special case team held the warrant issued by the court to excute the search, and summoned the accussed Chang and other 10 voters to come to the case. After being examined by prosecutors Li Cilong, Zhao Qizheng, and Li Wenzhe, the accussed Chang was suspected of violating Civil Servant Election And Recall Act Article 99 “Delivering Bribes” significant, and there was a reason for detention. So the prosecuter applied to the court for detention.After interrogation by the judge, the judge admitted that the suspicion was significant, and there were sufficient facts to support that accomplices or witnesses may be colluded,however, there was unnecessary for detention, then the judge ordered the accussed Chang to be released on bail NT$50,000 , and the others were released.

In the investigation, in September and October 2022,the accussed Chang delivered bribes to voters in the constituency with trench coats as a consideration so as to win the election of the neighborhood representative.
